I never saw an authentic Gibson with that kind of wood (grain) in the resonator sides. I agree with the comments on the neck.
One needs to see MUCH more than these three photos to get much of a clue about authenticity. Back of the resonator for sure at a minimum. Inside the pot is usually critical too. Inside of resonator may have clues.
Conversion necks are so common they usually are no clue at all.
If price went crazy you should be happy you walked away.
current price is pretty good for a copy or parts banjo. I dont see enough on the auction site to say it is a gibson, but a couple of things that arent , as previously said the neck is not a gibson neck, the tailpeice is missing the presto on the bottom. The side of the resonator as said looks odd for a gibson, and it looks like its poorly finished or refinished. Right now at 1200 bucks its probably a fair price with a chance of some real gibson parts, but not much more than that.
