This tune by Anton Karas has been rarely played by tenor banjoists. I improvised a rather "free" version, just to remove the mold from my centenary Paramount "Style C". I would like to hear it played by some other banjoist too. Thanks for listening.

Marco
Tdennis and Bob, I appreciated your comments a lot. Indeed, the basses that Karas plays on his zither are essential to reinforce and color this simple, but pleasant and catchy melody. When I watched the film in the early 50s I did not understand the story, but the soundtrack deeply impressed me. Later I took a couple of trips to Vienna, where I could see that this tune corresponds exactly to the soul of that city.

Hi Bob. Anton Karas, the composer of this piece, plays it in G. I preferred F to be able to use certain inversions more pleasing to my ear, as well as being easier for me, who do not know music and, in a certain sense, not even the keyboard. Many thanks for your comment!
