Just bought some 2-liter Coke on sale at 3/$5.00 or about $1.67 per jug. In 2000 I was buying 2l Coke for $.99 on sale. That inflates to $1.76 today. I was surprised. Think I’ll get some more before the sale vanishes.

My anecdotal recall…I went consulting in 1994. That put me on the road to week to 2 weeks living in a jobsite unit. My grocery bill on the way out was generally 45.00 dollars or so. Nowadays, my grocery bill for the same situation is about 135.00 or so. In full disclosure, I buy a bit better foods than those difficult days early on. Brad

You know the folks on Facebook use that stuff for everything. Devolving rust to cleaning headlights.

I used to drink Diet Coke and since having a serious illness just over a year ago, for some reason, I lost my taste for colas. I now drink Fresca or squirt.
As much as I hate going to Walmart, they have my products for $1.88 for a 2L
My regular grocery store is at $3.09 - $3.49 for a 2L.
I’m just saying NO !!! There’s going to be some changes for a lot of people!!!

My store had the 2l Coke products for $3.99 for one or $5 for 3. This is a no-brainer.

Will the tariffs have an impact on the price? There are several secret ingredients, and are all ingredients from US today?

Well most of the secret ingredients are spices, and a lot of spices are imported.  My wife just went out and bought a bunch of vanilla since Madagascar got hit with a 50% tariff.  I just bought some extra olive oil and avocado oil but you can't buy too much ahead cause it goes rancid.  This whole thing is too chaotic.  A couple researchers at U of Michigan that I know are looking at what countries they can move to to continue their research.  My Canadian long time friends are concerned about coming over the border for an event this summer.  The ripples keep growing and I just can't look away.  It's like watching a slow train wreck.

Cola is an African plant, so the extract comes from there. What other Coke ingredients are imported, I don’t know.

That  is interesting about the Michigan professors.  Really curious what other countries will fund their research.  My good friend and cycling partner's sister had a grant to study bullying at a local university and when that grant ran out she moved to another university, so grants come in and leave all the time.  My sister-in-law's daughter and ger husband are coming over to the states next week to try and obtain US citizenship for their two children.  Her daughter is a US citizen, although she was born in Germany, but the children have to apply, as they are not natural citizens.  People come and go, but the vast majority, are more apt to come than leave.

Well, that would be the model in the past.  However, as more stories come out, it may not be in the future.  I don't know all the details, but a good friend's next door neighbor in Ypsilanti, MI is a citizen of India with a work visa, married to a U.S. citizen, and they have two children.  He returned from visiting family in India and has been "disappeared" at the airport.  Tensions may be heightened in the University of Michigan area, since it seems it is being targeted as a promoter of DEI, close to the Canadian border, etc...  but all student visas have been revoked for foreign students at Central Michigan University, and four have been revoked at University of Michigan.  It is, indeed, strange times.

Strange indeed. I asked my brother why his step daughter and husband wanted citizenship for their two children. He said they were afraid that Russia was going to invade Germany. He told them, if that happens they have more to worry about that American citizenship.

Coke has been my favorite soft drink for as long as I can remember. About 8 years ago my glucose and A1C levels were not diabetic but they were getting too close to the edge. After hearing that a 10 oz. can of Coke contained the equivalent of 10 teaspoons of sugar I had to make a difficult choice.

Until I fully retired at the end of last year I frequently travelled to the US as part of my work. Max 3 week visits to spend time at head office or with clients. I did this on a standard visitors visa for various companies for 30 years. No way I'd risk it now. Worst case before, highly unlikely, was that an officious border guard would decide I needed a work visa and put me on the next plane home. Now ? Highly possible that I'd spend weeks in an ICE jail. It's not just tarrifs that will stifle your international trade and relations.

Is pop/soda/coke still available in 3 liter bottles in the U.S.?
I still have 3 of those that we picked up forever ago in VA Beach and use them to bottle my home brew in smiley

The Coca Cola company has a unique license to import coca leaves and coca extracts. Why any company should have any unique legality is beyond me.

My understanding is that caffeine has long-since replaced coca in Coca-Cola. I assume soon after the Pure Food and Drug Act (1906).

^^ Coca Cola still uses coca extract for flavoring, at least in "Classic." They now substitute caffeine for the good stuff!
