The ABF Spring Rally in Palmyra NY (near Rochester) is less than a month away. If you have not booked your room with the hotel, you need to call now (as in right now). This is also a great excuse to swing by Bernunzio Music.

The ABF Rallies are held twice a year and are the ONLY banjo event dedicated to what is now called "classic banjo". This is the music and "style" that pretty much all banjos built between the late 1870s and about 1930 (or until pick playing took over) were designed for. So, pretty much all of what we think of as "old time" banjos built before WW2.

The Event is totally free to attend and all who are interested are invited. Participation is optional, so if you just want to come and listen or talk about old banjos or banjo history, that is what this event is.

We will have evening recitals/concerts. And a "banjo orchestra" (which is really just for fun) featuring piccolo banjo, banjeaurine, regular banjo, and cello banjo.

Friday and Saturday afternoon we have our "round robin" which is sort of an open mic.

We keep an informal schedule to allow for plenty of time for visiting, jamming, working on music, and general immersion in banjo stuff and show and tell.

Since we are a special interest group focused on "classic banjo", we all play nylon or gut string banjos, so this is THE event to get advice and hear banjos set up for nylon strings. I'm also happy to let people try out my banjos (I usually bring a few-- I mean, why else do I have them).
