I think I heard on the radio that the franchised restaurants are all closed but the ones opened by the original owners are still going. I've driven by some lately in Tennessee and Kentucky that appear to be open. Used to like their wings but anymore I'm trying to avoid fried food.
The one in my hometown closed 2 - 3 years ago now.

The one in Daytona Beach is still open, but they are facing some tough competition. Just up the road is a new place with a strangely Northwestern vibe. Strange for Florida anyway.
Their burgers are great, the beer is brewed in house and served super cold in double size mugs.
And the waitresses dress similar to Hooters, but more plaid and work boots.
For some reason its named after that old David Lynch show that was real popular back in the 90's.

I've never been to a Hooters. Not that I'm a prude, I've just never had the opportunity. I suppose I need to make the effort if I'm going to, before they all close and I get left out of the experience.
I will say for the genre, I like Tilted Kilt better. Better beer, food, and uniforms if you can believe it.
