I used the Mighty D tuners for about a year and will say they are everything as advertised. They are incredibly smooth, sound more like cam tuners than the Keiths and once set up are no hassle and don’t have to be fudged with every time you need to tune.
Both knobs turn the same way (instead of opposite) like the Keiths but was very easy to get used to. Overall, I was impressed.
My only problem was all the added stuff up on the peghead. Just didn’t like the look and six knobs up there was just confusing for “old” me. Went back to the Keiths just to clean up the look.
I have sets on both my banjos and they are absolutely the best. No problem with tuning or retuning, infact I can change a string and then go right back the being in tune, or to gminor tuning with no problem. The person that mentioned the unclean look, they can barely be seen from the front, very clean looking to me.
For the gentleman that mentioned the that he didn’t like the look of the front of the might D tuners, here is my style 18 with the clean look of the tuners.
