Joel, thanks for posting the catalog pages. The one that I have been working on for the past month or so is a number 9 and needed a neck reset, resonator refinish and the flange well recut. The details in the catalog gave me some more details on the materials that were used and some additional construction information.
As you mentioned earlier, some of the craftsmanship isn't absolutely top shelf, but the Van Epps influenced design features make it an interesting banjo to me. I got lucky in that the 22 karet gold plating is in "as new" condition so cosmetically it is in "very good ++" condition and is now structurally perfect.
