Haven't seen any posts on this news, but this was pretty cool to see! It seems Russ had some great input into this project.

I will say that I got to play this very banjo during the SPBGMA convention last month, and it was already sounding excellent. That fat rim/no hole ring combo is a dandy! Steve and gang nailed this one, IMO.
No-hole HR-30 tone ring and a wider neck. Styling taken from the Gold Star 81 Crowe for obvious reasons since it's a Russ Carson model.
Been a while since we had a new no-hole tone ring released. Here's to hoping they start selling that as standalone ring or upgrade option.
Are there any other domestic no-hole tone rings being currently produced? (not including custom orders)

True, not everyone can afford it. Frankly, there doesn't seem to much difference in price of banjos compared to guitars or trumpets.
They all have entry level models from $200- $900, intermediate models from $1,000 to $3000 & professional grade from $3100 to over $10,000. The differences are all the same, in banjos and trumpets. Quality of materials, level of craftsmanship and amount of decoration. After that, it's all emotion. Some folks just gotta have a Gibson, but Gibson also made some crappy banjos, which is why the market isn't flooded with pre-war Gibsons.
