I just got a letter (real letter with a Canadian (not NIgerian) postmark ..... not an email) from TD Canada Trust Bank Estate Management Department searching for the next of kin for one of their customers with my last name. The guy had no will or beneficiaries, so they want me to file a next of kin claim for his balance of $15,245,000 (US). If I decide to file the claim, would one of you fellows mind running by the bank and picking up the check for me. There will be a half a million or so in it for your troubles.
Sorry, no TD in Russell .... closest one is 1.25 hour drive. Additionally, 1/2 million* is cutting it pretty close ... especially once the 25% tariff [or surcharge, or ???] kicks in. But, but, but, hopefully one of us schmucks that lives in a bigger center will be able to help you out.
Edit: * now that I think about it a bit more, in another thread there was an intimation that a million isn't a really big pile anymore. Half a million??? Thanks but no thanks.

I take back those nice things I said about your playing and if Don doesn't come through, I will be making Owen Canada's newest millionaires ...... so he can then look down upon all of you non-millionaires.

....... if not for the smoke
.... yes indeedy, the smoke from AB. We usta get "news" about our own forest fires, but apparently for a few years now they no longer pass muster.
Fwiw, our "visibility gauge" is the line of trees 1.6 kilometers east of us, along the edge of the field. [... and facing east, well, the Rockies are a l-o-n-g way off.]

I explained the situation to Maggie at the TD Branch. .. She said she would refer it to her manager. The next thing I know an RCMP patrol car pulls up on the sidewalk in front of the bank. I told the officer I was there to pick up the inheritance of the Nigerian prince. He took my name and address and told me to go home and wait for a call from our local health authority. Why would anyone send a load of money to an office of our local health authority ? This may take some time and effort to resolve.

Well, at least you are trying. I apologize for any inconvenience it may have caused.
"So, lemme see if I got this right....
Your name is Banjo Link.
You got a letter asking if you are the MISSING Link, a relative of the dead Link.
You are relatively certain that you are NOT, but because you play the banjo, you just MIGHT be.
But you don't look like the picture, so you asked a friend to help you out.
And your friend doesn't look enough like the picture to convince the bank people.
Perhaps you should contact somebody in Australia.
Specifically, the city of DARWIN, Australia.
It's a name frequently mentioned online, in posts discussing the Missing Link.
And if THAT doesn't work, try mainland China.
With over a BILLION people there, there's a good chance that ONE of them is the lovely young lady, also a banjo player, known as Miss Ing Link.
