I have a deering vega senator bluegrass special
was keeping it in my living room to be able to just pick it up and play, instead of hiding in my back bedroom. But the noise is so much that it drives my dogs crazy
so over the weekend I pulled off the resonator and the banjo is built off a vega senator rim
was able to take all the J hooks off and remove the small flange parts that attach the resonator
added a towel below the bridge, it is the by far the quietest banjo now
I thought it was cool that in a half hours time, I can convert it from a blue grass special
to a vega senator open back that is tolerable to play in my living room and not bother the dogs

Yes, cool.
Some dogs, with very sensitive ears, just can't handle the high-frequency overtones of stringed instruments.

However, some dogs are really, REALLY into Bluegrass.

The kid on the porch swing, in "DELIVERANCE" had someone else kneeling behind him, same method.
Plus: What you see on the screen is drop thumb, clawhammer, but what you hear on the theater's speakers, is three-finger Scruggs style.

AND!! Burt didn't really put an arrow into that guy's spine.
