I had abdominal surgery a little over ten years ago. I was able to come home 4-5 days later (your bowels have to wake up from the anesthesia, and you have to hold down a meal before they let you go).
Once I could stand I commandeered a walker and I set off. Did about as much walking as I could day and night. If I woke up and couldn’t get back to sleep I did laps around the halls.
I had been a retired RN for a while then, and I realized that unless they needed me for something I was most likely safer at home than I was in the hospital (considering infections and everything else).
I would bring my Kindle today and maybe a paper book as well and probably some writing paper. Didn’t have a Kindle then. I couldn’t eat anything till my bowels started working again, so snacks were right out. Once I got home I had to climb the stairs up to the bedroom, but home was way better than where I’d been.
Good luck, and I hope everything went well, and that you find yourself back home shortly.

...get you out of the hospital FAST!
Well, since you're able to access the HangOut, you've got all the sound files and videos of our banjo music to listen to.
That ought to relieve SOME of the boredom.
