I would try soaking in plain distilled warm water. If that does not work, drop some baby oil/ high quality mineral oil down the shaft.
Avoid any cleaners, solvents or anything acidic as they will absolutely dissolve the pearl. The one exception is mild dish soap.
Pearl is very brittle. Avoid using hard tools, pliers, ect, and absolutely do not hit it with anything metal.
I had a similar issue many years ago. Would up being an nightly after dinner project of working the damn thing while I sat and read. Took about 4 days of repeating the process, but it worked. When you get it off, if you are using the same peg assembly, do not forget to file the interior of the shaft so you Dont have a repeat.
