Dwight Diller was born in Charleston in August 1946 and spent most of his life in Pocahontas County, West Virginia.

He passed away on 14 February 2023.

I'm posting the tune he played that stuck with me most: "Walkin' in the Parlor"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDsL0FcZD2k

Maybe you'll post your favorite Dwight Diller tune.

Make great music,

Lew

There are SO many!

Just head over to bandcamp - dwightdiller.bandcamp.com/albu...-banjo-99 - and listen to (at least) these:

Boatsman
Turkey in the straw
Arkansas traveler

This entire CD rocked my banjo world.

Dear Lew
Thanks for sending the YouTube file of DD’s Washington’s March. I’ve had trouble uploading files to my BHO posts so I will leave it to others to look it up.
BTW l very much enjoyed your bios of Dwight Diller and Tommy Thompson. Thank you!

Here's "Washington's March" - on a YouTube video of Dwight playing tunes at Brown's Creek some long while ago:

Diller burns on Arkansas Traveler and Turkey in the Straw like nobody I've ever heard. Then he gets all delicate and expressive, even haunting with Yew Piney Mtn. or Calloway or Lost Girl. Probably my overall favorite clawhammer player.

Other than John Burke in his prime. He was really really fast. He taught at my Fretted Instruments School for about 5 years....great guy and we keep in touch over Facebook....Jack Baker    p.s. Dwight was a beautiful player for sure...
