Any recommendations for a replacement bridge? I think this bridge is original but don’t know for certain. Height is 7/16” , width between strings is 7/16”. Why do I want to replace it? Well, it will make me a better player, right? :-)

Thanks for any recommendations.

You need to post a photo as those banjos had different styles of bridges. And a maple original one will sell for $50+ so you may not want a new bridge at all.

Skin head or plastic? Bridges are very subjective. Try a few, they are relatively inexpensive.

1/2" bridges are readily available. Sand one to 7/16". Download and print Rudy's string spacing guide. Fold where you want it, mark with a pencil and file new slots.

Although you can use a small triangle or needle file, many like to use nut slotting files. If you have little need for gauged files, this set will do as well as any
