I’ve always said I feel more God like during ice fishing season because
I can walk on water for almost 5 months of the year!!!

Best ice conditions we’ve had in many years and hardly any snow. A little more snow would help because it’s so damn slippery and the older ya get, the more afraid of falling ya get. Took a good digger yesterday, but on my driveway!!! I’m feeling it today, that and putting 12 plus hours on the ice yesterday!!!
Had a good Morning for walleyes 3 1/2 miles out in 26-34 FOW on a reef on Little Bay de Noc. Biggest walleye was 27.5 “.
Packed up and moved to an inland lake and managed a 2 man limit of bluegills which is 25 each.
Great day on the beautiful waters of da U.P. and some great eating in the future.
Not sure if I’m cut out for those long days on da ice, as my arse is dragging today, everything is sore, and I’ve still got fish to clean!!! Good luck and tight lines!!!
Oh, must of been tired……forgot to take pics of the bluegills……..none under 8”

Nice slam on the eyes!! We are just getting good ice here for the 1st time in ages. Headed for Lake Simcoe next w/e for perch, then likely some eyes on the frozen rivers locally...and some PRIME TIME SLIME toothy critters..my fav.

Dave, let me know how the Simcoe trip goes. It’s on my bucket list!!!
I’m an ol perch jerker at heart. When I was young the perch fishing was phenomenal on Lake Michigan and if we weren’t pulling up two at a time on perch rigs, we were surprised. Those days are gone but the perch fishing in our area is getting better again , but not like the Chicago / Indiana area.
Good Luck at Simcoe and keep me posted!!!

Ice fishing is on my bucket list - I would really love to have a try. Looks like you're living your best retirement life there Dale!

What are the markings/scars on the fish you're holding up there?

Jonty, I guarantee you would have the time of your life ice fishing!!! It is hands down my favorite thing to do and I have been doing it since I was a kid. I still lose sleep the night before I go because of excitement , like the day before hunting season opens!!! You know!!!
Those wart looking things are called Walleye Dermal Sarcoma I believe.
I think it’s from a virus and forms these cysts or lumps in the skin.
Harmless to humans. Haven’t seen that in a number of years but fairly common.
To be cautious though, after consuming said fish, I always immediately flush my system with whiskey or beer just to be on the safe side!!! Can’t be too careful!!!

Finally!!! Yesterday was not the best weather conditions for fishing, but it was the first day of sunny weather without wind I’ve seen in a long damn time. Felt great to be outside all day and not confined to the shack
Wrestled up a few walleyes and a few northern pike too. Gonna need another freezer soon!!!
