Hello there banjo lovers,
I am seeking advice for which travel case to purchase. In the past I had bought a cheap banjo case for my starter Jameson banjo. It has worked great, even used it when I bought a new Songster. There are the expected scrapes and it clearly shows it has traveled.
However, since then I have bought two more expensive banjos, My Gold Star and My DP Hopkins, which I absolutely LOVE, I am concerned that they are protected. I'm planning on attending two hopefully three banjos camps this year and would like to bring one of my nicer banjos.
It's my understanding that Calton are nice cases, but someone on here said that they bend/twist, If I remember correctly. There is also Hiscox, which I know nothing about. Then there is also Hoffee, which is looking good to me right now.
Of course my two better banjos came with cases but I don't want those cases ruined from travel. I'd like to have a strictly for travel case.
I also remember a thread mentioning that a couple of banjo case makers were uniting to make one larger company. So that's why again I am bringing up to the banjo hangout community the best banjo case out there question.
I'd appreciated any advice and shared experiences.
I figure hooking ^^ up with United Airlines https://www.google.com/search?q=united+breaks+guitars+1&sca_esv=866c8334afd1781b&rlz=1C1CHBF_enCA1116CA1116&ei=KJuVZ8aELuj_p84Pys_NsAo&ved=0ahUKEwjGuKr2qJKLAxXo_8kDHcpnE6YQ4dUDCA8&oq=united+breaks+guitars+1&gs_lp=Egxnd3Mtd2l6LXNlcnAiF3VuaXRlZCBicmVha3MgZ3VpdGFycyAxMgYQABgWGB4yBhAAGBYYHjILEAAYgAQYhgMYigUyCBAAGIAEGKIEMggQABiABBiiBDIIEAAYgAQYogQyCBAAGIAEGKIESLwvUNoGWM4NcAF4AZABAJgBYKABugGqAQEyuAEMyAEA-AEBmAIDoAL8AcICChAAGLADGNYEGEfCAgoQLhiABBhDGIoFwgIFEAAYgATCAgoQABiABBhDGIoFwgIFEC4YgATCAiIQLhiABBhDGIoFGJcFGNwEGN4EGOAEGPQDGPEDGPUD2AEBmAMAiAYBkAYIugYGCAEQARgUkgcDMi4xoAfDFg&sclient=gws-wiz-serp#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:875b275f,vid:d1111XefHeM,st:0 should come up with a pretty reliable and comprehensive assessment.
Edit: I've never worked with carbon fiber, but fiberglass is pretty easy/forgiving IF a person was inclined to do his/her own [minor] repairs.
