Hi guys...new member here. I started just messing around with an old beater banjo a few years back. Was bored with guitar and had always wanted to have an old'Jo around so I bought one and it almost ended my relationship with my girl. I couldn't put it down. But like any banjo picker I wanted different banjos for different tones and styles. But I'm B-R-O-K-E. I got together with my Uncle and we took some specs that I liked from each of my beaters and made some adjustments here and there. Now I'm hooked on building them. Lol. Any way they ain't nothin' special but we're proud of what we are able to do considering what we've built them out of and having never tried. But anyway I'd like to post a couple pics of our first attempt if y'all don't mind.

What kind of rim construction did you use for this banjo?

I'm Italian and I don't have clear exactly what you mean by 'rips', I guess you mean a sort of multiply rim... I have two banjos with block construction (Tony Pass rims) and I really love both the sound quality and the look!
I don't build instruments but I'd love to...

Ripping a piece of wood involves cutting in the long direction. I think the OP was talking about cutting thin slices in that direction and gluing them together once bent or while bending.
Thank you kindly.
