He had the Coon Creek Girls come to his house to play for the King and Queen of England.
There are pictures of him in Warm Springs surrounded by fiddlers and banjoists and guitar pickers.
In the interest of transparency, I guess I should tell the whole story.
My Uncle Hansel (Hank) was a Navy Chief stationed in the Washington, DC area, probably at the Navy Yard in the city. Because he was the same height and weight (don't know why that was particularly important) as Franklin Roosevelt, he was selected to stand in for the President-Elect at the dress rehearsal the day or two before the actual inauguration. I have photos of the Washington newspaper laying around somewhere showing him taking the oath during the rehearsal.
We were proud of him anyway ..... although he wasn't the real president!
