One who does suffer yucky tummy far too often, I yearn for fast relief. Tried it all. Some work, some help, but are usually slow. I read about the centuries old treatment of yucky stomach by consuming bitters. It is one reason so much was made and used for aperitifs. Well, good luck for me, I am a bit of a bitters collector. There is some science behind the effectiveness of drinking bitters to ease tummy yucky. Besides the complex mixture of herbs that go into the production of bitters, it’s the bitterness doing much of the work! Bitter fluids hitting the stomach causes the right production of stomach fluids to digest and pass the yucky stuff.
The more bitter the better, and for me, a shot or so does the trick. Besides, who ever got a little buzz from an anti-acid tablet! Brad

Brad .... I collect old Bitters bottles .....mid to late 19th Century. Maybe it is a different type of bitters, but always thought of the old "stomach bitters" as basically a cover for consuming alcohol when drinking wasn't socially popular.

Bitter prices have gone crazy too!!! My Old Fashions are getting expensive.
Gonna have to switch to Manhattans……….again!!!

28 miles as the crow flies on Washington Island , Wi. There is a bar / restaurant called Nelson’s Hall Bitter Club ( of which I’m a member)
You have to do a shot of bitters to be a member. Been there for years!!!

And, spritzed with quinine or your favorite fizzy water, one has a simple aperitif, or summer refresher with ice. Brad

Finish a whiskey on the rocks, then hit the remaining ice with a splash of club soda and a dash of bitters, makes a nice "chaser."
