Would this be an issue? Taking a neck that was originally made for an 11" pot, and putting it on a banjo with a 10.5" pot.

Problems?
Disadvantages?
Advantages?

Ever done it?

LOL, feet, inches, it's all good. Don't know how to edit the heading!

You guys know what I mean!

Yes, you've got to do something to keep the neck from wobbling.

I recently attached an 11" neck to a 10 7/8" pot. I put 1/16" worth of maple veneer between them as shown in the photo. The finished instrument is a sweetie, weighing in at 3 1/2 lbs.

Eric, I'm no computer whiz, but what has worked for me is:  If it's a topic that I've started, down in the bottom right corner of my posts there's an icon that, to me, looks like a writing pad w/pencil.  It says: "Edit topic" and it allows me to do that.

.... or something like that!! wink

I was wondering what Eric was saying, until I looked back at the heading again. It was a good laugh, and made my dreary day.
Yes, you should be able to fit that neck okay. as David explained. Jim

Just sand enough in the center of the neck for the sides to touch.

Besides stability, your biggest issue is getting the bridge in your ideal location. You can add (moves the bridge toward the center) or remove wood (moves it toward the tailpiece) from the end of the neck or leave it alone.

If you don't care how it LOOKS, as long as it SOUNDS good and PLAYS well, wedges, shims, epoxy putty, or whatever, to make the heel a bit longer.

Somebody had a mahogany disc, once used for casting metal mailboxes, and asked me to put a guitar neck on it.
Looked kind of strange, but he liked the way it sounded, so, happy customer.
