If you haven't heard the news, Gabe Hirshfeld has been dealing with a quickly progressing kidney disease which has been making him sicker and sicker over the past year. Most of you know Gabe for his amazing banjo playing, but he's also been an incredible friend and mentor to so many. The impact he's had on the banjo community is truly immeasurable.

Gabe is at a critical juncture in his struggle with kidney disease, and he needs our help to get through continued treatment, a transplant, and then recovery. Please consider donating to his GoFundMe

Thank you for posting the Go Fund Me link.

I've been told Gabe is going through quite a bit of medical "prep" for his transplant (there is a donor). During this time, he is unable to work his job. So he needs our help!

I'm in.

Just replying here to keep the thread recent. Gabe is a remarkable musician and human being. Wishing him the best, sending him as much cash as possible.

Gabe is one of the banjo world’s greatest assets and is the kind of person you want as a friend. I’m really glad to see how this community has risen to the occasion to support him right now.

I just wanted to jump in here to give a huge thanks to everyone. The outpouring of support from the music community has been overwhelmingly moving and I am simply in disbelief. Things have been incredibly hard this past year, and they continue to get more difficult, but thankfully the process is going as smoothly as possible. I will likely be starting dialysis soon and then expecting to get a kidney within the next few months. From the core of my being, thank you all so much, it truly means more than I can put into words.

It's the least we can do Gabe. You've given the community so much already.
