I remember seeing someone playing a double-necked banjo at a concert in Carlisle, Ontario Canada in the late 1970ies. He was a fabulous player but I can't remember his name. Anyone with a better than mine who does remember?

Wow ! 2 pairs of coordinator rods , radiused heels , whew ! {:0) Do ya think one tenor neck & one five or what ?
Used to be quite a few two necked elec guitar players around --- don't remember the diff between necks ? I think more of a novelty than practicality ?

It was a US guy for sure. I think it might have been Bob Black but not certain at all.

I was at the Carlisle festival in 1979 and don’t remember seeing this. Actually, I don’t remember much from that festival. I drove 6 hours from Montreal in my 1975 Datsun B210.

2 necked guitars have been around for a long time, both electric and acoustic.  The 2 necks typically have one conventional 6 string neck. The other neck could be a 12 string, bass or mandolin neck.  Paul Bigsby even made some electric guitar/mandolin double necks before Fender started building guitars.

Not to be picky, but I think OP means "Player of two-necked banjo". A two-neck banjo player looks like this:
