A fun Christmas tune written by J. Fred Coots and Haven Gillespie. The first recording of it was in 1934 by banjoist Harry Reser and his band. I play it on my 1978 ODE Style C with rhythm guitar,, arrangement by Canadian banjo great Denis Lepage.

Originally posted by BikeriderDenis recorded it a year before your Ode was born. He’s still actively playing here in Southwestern Ontario. Saw him for the first time at the Carlisle Bluegrass Festival around 1979. Then I saw him by accident at the Moonshine Cafe in Oakville ON a few years ago and Deja vu chills ran up my spine.
I first saw Denis around 1972 or 3 with the Dixie Flyers,, the first bluegrass banjo player I ever saw live & it blew me away. I emailed him a few years ago saying he ruined my life. I have/had both his albums and TAB book.
