Neighbor was moving and put out mostly average stuff for free but saw a couple vintage items and this one caught my eye

Seems like some sort of copy / inspiration as the inside is only stamped with “Made by Glenn Bumgarner 11:1981” and no other serials or info present

can you post more photos showing different angles, all the hardware? It looks like a recreation on an old gibson banjo, or a parts banjo with some real gibson parts. Depending on what parts are there the value could be anywhere from 1 to 4k

If nothing is broken and it's playable (meaning well made by Mr. Bumgarner), it ought to be worth $1000 anyway. If it has a tone ring.

Good photos of the interior of the rim would be helpful, also close ups of all the metal parts.

Center stripe is not a Gibson construction detail.

Looks like decent craftsmanship but could be Stew Mac, Sullivan, or Japanese. What area of the country did this come from? Low valuations are safest unless a hands on is possible.

Glen Bumgarner lived in Wilkesboro NC and died about ten years ago. He made his own necks, rims and resonators.
He bought a lot of the other parts from Bill Sullivan at First Quality Banjo. He outsourced fretboards and peghead
overlays pre inlayed, probably from First Quality.
