Not too many folks interested in solid-body electric guitars hanging out in the hangout. If the guitar is original, it is worth five digits. Buyers tend to be well off CEO, lawyers, doctors, and stars. I would consign the instrument to a major vintage dealer with buyers all over the world. The premium they will get for the guitar will more than compensate for the commission.
If the guitar is modified, ignore the above.

I knew the price I wanted for imine and sold it at a annual Guitar show, I needed the money in order to adopt a child
I think those type of nostalgia guitars are relegated to collectors over a certain age. Maybe young psuedo celebrities. I know a 35 year old guy who buys high end collectibles and sells them 5 years later for a living.
I would definitely consign with Carter, Gruhns or the like. Most guitarists I play with buy 500 dollar guitars and spend 800 to upgrade. Ive actually never seen a gigger with a 5 figure or more electric guitar.
