Hi all,
Well after playing the banjo for almost 40 years ( I started young ) I finally purchased a Stanleytone. It's a 60th anniversary model, gold. I live over in England and have been a Ralph fan all my life, so privileged to have met Ralph twice, when he played here in the UK in 1997 and a few years later over at bean Blossom festival.
Any Stanleytone owners out there be good to hear from you !
Thanks !
Dave.
Welcome to an exclusive club!
Got mine in 1994.It was actually given to me as a present (he got one for himself as well)by a bho member who is an entrepreneur and completely surprised me with the banjo. i had 30 years old now and sounds better than ever. Its one of only two left handed models made . Possibly a third one out there.
Only changes ive made is to put a Snuffy bridge on it and had custom confederate flag tuner buttons made by the late Ron Barnes ( his BHO homepage is still visible) . Some years ago my tailpiece broke in half and Frank Neat graciously replaced it free of charge. The pic of me and Ralph was taken in April '95 if memory is correct. I made sure Ralph held it left handed lol

Dave did you import the Stanleytone?
Im also a big Ralph Stanley (well Stanley Brothers) fan in the UK.
Ive got a 1925 Style 4 ball bearing like Ralph had until early 60s and then id 1928 Style 5.
Always wanted a Stanleytone, just not the one with Ralphs face on the back!

Well howdy Tommy,
That's great ! Yes that Mullins arch-top is a great sounding banjo. Fantastic, play some Ralph on it ! All the best !

Hi there Scott,
Yes it is coming in from the states. I would have been happy with any model but I was aware of a 60th available and well... it's only money. Ralph is my all time musical hero and as a seasoned player, I must have a raised head to play Ralph's songs so they sound right. Looking forward to the spring and get this Banjo out and heard. I did have a 1925 Ball bearing style 4 years ago and it was a really great sounding banjo. Seriously. If you get out to any festivals next year, we might catch up ! All the best.
