See this beautiful four-poster bed?

Person could slide a few instruments under there, sure enough.

But I have more than will fit, they are sort of CLOGGING the guest bedroom, and the basement's a bit too damp.
So I says to myself
Hey, Self! How about a platform OVER the bed, with cutesy little curtains to hide the instruments and the platform, and make it LOOK LIKE a four-poster?

Came up with this design, to be built around and over the existing bed.

I'm afraid you're so last century. We've been using four poster beds for instrument storage for years. Here's a picture of my great great uncle's maid popping his banjo under the sheets.

I stack all my cases (with and without instruments in them) in the corner of the den beside the piano. It's wasted space so.... great place to stack instrument cases. The ones I use are on instrument stands where I can reach them easily.

I don't recommend leaving instruments out like that if you have big dogs or grandkids but otherwise, they're okay.

^^ Nice, for you.
But, our humble cottage doesn't HAVE a den.
And we've got several instruments, well over a dozen, that we're planning to keep, even if they are played less than twice a year.

Sentiment beats practicality, on a regular basis.

WOW! Your great great  uncle is SANTA CLAUS??

DId that score you any above-average presents?

Anyway, I don't mind being "Last Century".

1900-1999!!

That was the century during which MOST of the  hundred best banjo players I've ver heard, were born. laugh

We have a dehumidifier in the basement, with a tube leading to a drain, so we don't have to constantly empty it. Previously, instruments came up in the spring, down in autumn.
