I have a 1974 OME triple X. It has the original planetary tuners. They seem to grind or stick a bit. Should there be felt washers between the plastic tuner knob and the metal housing for smooth tuning? If so, where can I purchase them?

Also possibly Beacon Banjo tuners (original Keith pegs) sells those little gaskets but I think the ones they sell are more rubber than leather, but that might be an option.

Greg Boyd Music sells leather washers. My shop does not sell tuner washers.

Check the Marketplace- support members & get just what your tuners are asking for.

These should do the trick.

Stew-Mac sells 1/2-inch diameter felt washers for guitar strap buttons. Might need some trimming.

Fender strap button felt washers on Etsy.

As already mentioned and linked, Greg Boyd sells leather friction washers.

Beacon Banjo sells them as original replacement parts for Keith tuners.

So does Elderly.

Here they are on Amazon!

Thanks all. Didn't know that leather was the best. I'll try to make my own. They are cheap enough to buy, but shipping to Canada adds a bunch.

What do they do?

Go to a hardware store that has bins of loose items ,rather than pre packaged. I bought fiber washers that look like the ones used on prewar Grover’s for a few cents each . Put a drop of oil on them before installing & they work fine.
