Looking to get a new 5th string pip made and a setup to "wake up" a vintage gold star banjo, which I worsened the sound of through my inexperienced tweaking. Dug through the archives here and saw McCabes recommended a few times. Was going to take it there before having a rude exchange with them over the phone in which they hung up on me before I could explain the work I needed done. So I'd rather not take the hour and a half to drive out there if they don't have 2 minutes to talk it over with me and discuss price/work to be done. If anyone from or around Los Angeles has any other suggestions would greatly appreciate it. My regular guitar luthier I go to has offered to work on it but I'm hesitant to take it anywhere that doesn't specialize in banjos. Thoughts?
