Thanks for these links -- very interesting stuff, although I have not yet seen anything that indicates whether he has a Granada.
Michael
He has played a Gibson (or copy) with hearts and flowers inlay, but I have never heard him talk about it. I know he also has played Del's old bow tie.
I'm with Gabe, Sonny's Chief looks a lot like a Granada. Can you see all of Sonny's ugly tuners on the peghead in the video your referencing?
As far as I know (although I'm not completely up to speed on Rob's banjos) he doesn't play a Granada on stage, whether vintage or reissue. I remember MANY years ago he played a show in Connecticut that I attended and he was test driving a 5 string converted pre war flat head Granada, that maybe came out of Wisconsin. He did not buy it. Although it did sound great. But it was unbelievably high-priced!
"Usually" I see Rob playing his father in law's banjo - Davis Kennedy-built, or his 1940s original RB 75.

I saw the Del Mccoury band play live back in August and I firmly believe Rob was using a PW style 3/75 that night

Yes, he has had an RB-75 flathead and a TB-75 conversion for a long time. The one the original poster was asking about is the chief.

Very cool! He pulls his own sound from those. Heck of a player. Fun hearing those old 75s live up close. Thanks for that bit of info.
