I need a couple of heads, but one banjo got to me without a head.
The tension hoop is 1/2 inch high, with no relief notch for the strings to pass through.

What might the proper crown height be for that one?

The other one is 1/4 inch high.
Again, no notch.

Is that a High, Low, or medium?

On the 1/2" tall tension hoop; If the fretboard lines up 1/16" or more above the rim, I would go with a medium crown. If the fretboard lines up with the top of the rim, I would use high crown.

on the 1/4" tall tension hoop; 3/8", low crown is the lowest crown you can get, so that's what I recommend you use and hopefully it works.

Heads arrived in good condition.
MUCH to my surprise, the old split head (from my favorite player) had a MUCH WIDER retainer edge, and the new head slid right through the tension hoop.

Figured the SIMPLEST thing to do was to cut a bit out of the hoop, rejoin the ends.
Did that, ground them to overlap, put on a small rivet AND s bit of epoxy putty.
Will let it dry overnight, and put it all back together.

Oddly enough, when I put the head on the body, and tightened the hooks to where it FELT right, and clipped a Fender tuner to the flange, and tapped the head, the readout was G#

That's without the neck, nor the resonator attached.
Did I accidentally do something RIGHT??

Got the neck on, tuned it up.
I imagine the head will have to "settle in for a day or three.
Might have to wedge the neck, for proper string height.

Ah, well. Adjusting banjos is fun, so let the Games begin!
