Yeah, that happened to me too.
Log out of the system completely.
Then refresh and log back in.
Patreon has its quirkiness.
However, well worth the time and expense. So many great teachers!
Hilarie Burhans is awesome!
A great banjo teacher especially for beginner and intermediate!

Hi Mark,
Good to hear from you. So I have no way to get on his site. When I attempt to, it directs me to essentially to start over by paying and becoming a member. When I go to the Patreon Site it shows I have "No Membership". BUT yet it takes my money monthly as I can see by my statements.
I did reach out, but no reply from him yet..??
If you are paying by credit card or having taken out of checking account or ?
Change card number or bank acount number and tell them the problem and you do not want auto pay.
This cancels all auto withdrawals from that account. This goes into effect immediately.
It makes me mad when they can increase payment but we cannot easily cancel.
I don't pay any bills with auto pay anymore because of a similar problem.
Have to pay a little more for cell phone and WIFI, but no hassle to cancel or straighten out billing.

Yeah, I don't like it either.
But if you question them about it....
Their response: we are just following the protocol and policies that most other companies in our business adhere to. And it's really hard to argue with that. I really like Artist Works! But I will never get comfortable with the "auto-renewal" policy! However, this is not going to change. They also say : "This is a convenience for our customers, so they can enjoy uninterrupted service."
And it is extremely difficult to get a refund after the auto-renewal charges your card. They also claim there is a hefty cancelation fee if they refund your money after auto renewal kicks in. Seems that they have us over a barrel!

I renew my two Artistworks schools every December during the 50%-off sale. My Noam school actually renews Christmas Day; my Tony school renews in July, but their system is smart enough to tack the renewal onto the end of the current membership. I subscribe to two schools for the price of one.
But to your point about auto-renewal: Immediately after submitting my renewal and receiving the confirmation, I go to my account page and turn off auto renewal for both schools.
Edited to add: Whether or not auto-renewal is a convenience for their members, I agree that I don't like Artistworks defaulting to aut-renewal being on. In my case, it's definitely not a convenience, because I renew at 50% off. I'd rather forget to renew and have my membership temporarily suspended than to forget and be charged full price.

Alex, I respect the fact that you would rather not mention the teacher's name here.
Can you share what you did/did not like about the lessons?
Did you simply not like the fact that the price increase hit you sideways without any advance notice?

His site, his music was great!! Best deal in town, and lots of great helps in my playing. Yeah, just a little odd that I did not get an update on the change. Thus, when I went to sign in, it did not allow. Still not sure why. I guess there was no "grandfather clause".
But be curious if Patreon offers a monthly membership or pay as you go?? Does anyone know if that exists?? And it does seem that the tech platforms of refunds or cancelling is getting much more difficult.

Ken,
I just observed that Artist Works has now terminated customer phone contact! It seems that dealing with a live person has gone the way of the Dodo bird ! Oh how I hate the 21st century!
