Fellini's La Strada is one of my favorite movies. This song is that film's theme song (and a major part of the film's plot). I'd love to know your thoughts on Fellini or the movie or the song or my video. Thanks for watching.
Thank you Tony, you know this theme and this film are so evocative for us in Italy...
Gelsomina (Giulietta Masina) playing that melody on the trumpet is the image of poetry for me

Leslie, I’m glad you liked the arrangement. Once I settled on C for the key. My simple arrangement kind of wrote itself. In that key, there are lots of open strings which allowed the notes & chords to really stain for a nice legato feel.
Laurence, thank you so much. This banjo is very special to me. Unless it is destroyed or stolen, I’ll never own another tenor banjo.
Paolo, your use of the noun “poetry” is so accurate. The first time I saw that scene you posted, I was really fractured, but for some reason I never tried to play the tune until yesterday. This movie will always be in my heart.
Marco, thank you. You are such a banjo hero to me. Thank for such kind words. They mean a lot to me.
Thanks to everyone for watching my little video and for writing these nice comments.

beautiful! great ensemble work... nice blend of instruments!
Some Fellini content, zero banjo content.
Back in the 80s, we had a Saturday Night Movie group. We would pick two films that fit the theme of the evening. On “Rational Number Night” (there were mathematicians in the group), we paired Fellini’s “8-1/2” with “Death Race 2000.” An inspired pairing, only matched by “Texas Night” - Wim Wenders’ “Paris, Texas” matched with “Texas Chain Saw Massacre.”
Those were the days.

I would have loved to have been a part of the Saturday Night Movie Group. I really like the idea of juxtaposing films with a common theme, and the movies you watched were great choices. 'Sounds like big fun!
