Greetings from Paris, France
I bought a high crown banjo skin , ref BJ-1102-H1 (11 1/8-inch) for an old ( sixties?) 6 string banjo from west germany what someone gave to me. (photo)
The diameter seems fine but the skin is not high enough , when I put the steel ring (height 19mm) on the skin , the surface is too low (about 7-8mm , see photo) plus I cannot tight the bolts nor put back the neck .
I do not understand because apparently there is no higher crown available.
Right now I do not find the former skin but I remember that it was plastic, very low quality and yes, much higher.
What is your advice?
Many thanks

A typical high crown is half an inch high - about 12.5mm. However it's hard to tell from the photo because the hoop is not down as far as the hoop on the head as if the head is too big. If it's not too big it might be that a skin head is your only choice.
