Hi all, I am intending to fit a Shadow piezo to my tenor banjo.
I am considering two options:
1) Shadow SH B1
2) Shadow SH930-T
With the B1, you simply place the two piezos under the two outer feet of the bridge - between the feet and the skin/head.
With the SH930-T the piezo is installed in a complete replacement bridge. This one comes with an 'inline' volume and tone control unit in it that I would not use. I would cut the wire from the piezo and install a jack socket in the banjo and amplify the pickup using a LR Baggs Venue DI instead. I am an instrument tech.
I will probably go for the SH930-T as I reckon the piezo element embedded in the bridge runs under all four string slots which would probably result in better string to string balance as a result.
I just wondered if any of you have tried these pickups and if so, how did you find them?
Thanks, Eugene.
