They play it at 35:09 in this video and there's a pretty good view of the banjo. Looks like the capo is on the 6th fret. It sounds like sawmill tuning, but maybe the 5th is tuned differently?
Here's some clawhammer tab for playing chords behind the singing. The accompaniment Rawlings and Welch play is light and suggestive rather than heavy strumming. The singing and harmony carry the song. You can find your own strumming and/or picking pattern that sounds best to you.
The tab is in G tuning with the chords - Am, G, F, C. Put the capo on the 4th fret and tune the 5th string up to B with a spike or 5th string capo. If you can't do that, tune the 5th string down to F#. Since you are new to clawhammer, it's good that this tune doesn't require any fancy licks.
I based the tab on the video - Gillian Welch and David Rawlings on World Cafe (Full Interview & Performance)

I should have mentioned that I used the chords for "Howdy Howdy" suggested on the Ultimate Guitar web site - HOWDY HOWDY CHORDS by Gillian Welch & David Rawlings @ Ultimate-Guitar.Com
