I've owned this brilliant book since it was first published. It's probably one of the best resources that I've ever bought.
I've been away from playing for quite a while but I'm now working through some of my old stuff.
I wondered if there was a recording of either the complete tab content of the book or perhaps just the tunes.
I seem to remember that there was a cassette available but I'm hoping someone can point me in the direction of anything available on cassette, CD or MP3.
Many thanks
Alan
Alan: I had the book in front of me when I read your post so I looked in my cassette collection and I do have a tape. On the book, the publisher was Chappell Music Company but was distributed by Hal Leonard. I got it for $5.95 when I was taking lessons from Bill way back in the 1970's at the Blueridge Picking Parlor in Los Angeles. All 5 chapters are on the tape. I might have the audio on a storage hard drive but I will have to take it over to a friends house to see this morning. I will get back to your unless someone else solves your problem.
A few years ago I posted about a PDF scan I made of my copy of the book for my own personal use. Someone contacted me about sharing the file so I contacted Bill Knopf directly to see if he already had copies available.
His response: Nice to hear from you. I appreciate you contacting me first. I've received so many requests for the Hot Licks book that I scanned it myself. I even transferred the cassette tape to MP3s. The quality is not too bad. Please tell our fellow Hangout member that if he were to contact me I could send the whole package by email for $20.
Thank you,
Bill
PS I have a new website: billknopf.net And my YouTube channel is P47ROCKS
I don't see the Hot Licks book listed on his website but I would contact him directly for the digital copies. It's his work and he deserves to get paid for it.
