Jim Reed was greatly inspiring and supportive to BHO members both bluegrass and old-time. I posted my interview and tributes to Jim here.
A lot of talkin here but few tunes --- here's what I found
jimreed.bandcamp.com/album/jim...d-friends
I am deeply sad to hear of Jim's passing. He was an amazing player with his own signature sound that combined melodic and three finger to perfection. I could listen to Jim's solo banjo recordings for hours. They are complete, even without accompaniment.
If you haven't heard Jim's music, do you yourself a favor and check it out. The best of the best!!! He was not only a master musician but a super nice guy too. Very generous with his time.
I transcribed a collection of Jim's tunes into a PDF tab book that Jim was printing on demand as orders came in on his Bandcamp site. You can find his Bandcamp site here: https://jimreed.bandcamp.com/album/jim-reed-family-and-friends
I was honored to do the final mastering of Jim's last album - "Jim Reed Family and Friennds". A great album, also on his Bandcamp site.
He will be missed,
Ric
Jim must have posted hundreds of videos and mp3 here. Check out Jim Reed’s home page and then go to Media.

Jim was the real deal if there ever was one. I learned one of his tunes and dedicated another to him that I wrote. He wrote one for me too. That's what we did back then. Brothers of the banjo.
There's been too many old banjo friends passing lately. I'm starting to feel old.

Don,
Thank you for posting this difficult post. Jim had such a distinctive and beautiful tone. ... maybe my favorite tone of all time. He was such a humble, down to earth, and nice guy with immense talent. You couldn't ask for a better person. We were all blessed to have him share his banjo passion with us and to have had any interactions with him.
Remember the video of him playing a jam with Sammy Shelor. Brought some good smiles to Sammy's face.

Told me he had offers to play with both Monroe and with Charlie Waller.
Thank you Jim and RIP.
Ken
PS: Laurence, Hang tough. Feel for you.
