1890’s is an educated guess. Dowel stick is stamped “W. S. Mabbett”. Googled that name. Couldn’t find anything. Dobson style heel. Spun over 12” rim has 40 hooks New Renaissance head. Walnut neck Unusual inlays. Some are real mother of pearl, some are wood, some look like ivoroid. Scale is 26.75 inches

I'm hardly an expert on this type of banjo, but nothing about this looks like a Stewart to me. The fretboard, at least, looks like a nice home job.

Add a full front & back pic of the peghead & a close up of the heel cap. (BTW, this is not a Stewart)

For what it is worth, there was a "W. Mabbett, Jr." who played banjo, viola, and sang at a concert in Stoodleigh, Devon, England in Feb. 1911. (Crediton Chronicle, Feb 25 1911 p. 7)
