The new Fall 2024 crop of apples are beginning to show up in local groceries. Apples have been really bad over the past 4 to 5 months as the 2023 supplies  in storage were being foisted upon consumers by suppliers. Have found my 2 favorites.

Envy   and Sugar Bee.   Washington grown.  Excellent apples. Have had a few Fuji's that were also great.

Over the past 6 months the Envy's  sold in the US were imported from New Zeland. They were good early in the year but quality declined over the summer.

What are your favorites this year?

Grannysmith
Honey Crisp

Surprisingly, the local farmers markets in my semi-rural area is pretty weak in apples and other items, whereas the farmers market in my previous semi-urban area was great.

So it goes.

I like Fugi and Honey Crisp. Just cut into 4 pieces, core it and add a little salt and enjoy (I do peel it, but that's just personal preference).

Apple pie sure sounds good. Wish my mother was still here, as she made the best I ever tasted.

For eating whole, medium to med sweet. For baking, tart to med tart.
There is a newer honey crisp variant that I liked. Fuji good. If I could get about anything fresh tree ripened I would likely love it! Brad
