I have an old tenor here that was in need of tuning pegs. Throwing aside the basic rule of measuring twice and cutting once, I measured not at all and bought a set of friction tuners that I thought would work perfectly. Of course, they do not at all fit the 3/8th hole in the peghead. Instead of trying to sell or swap these, is it possible to use a bushing adapter to perfect the fit or am I better off buying a different set?
If the answer is the latter, anybody wanna buy some friction pegs?

Those pegs were designed to be a 1-1 replacement for tapered violin friction pegs. Pull out the violin pegs and stick on these. They fit a tapered hole best.
If you have 3/8" holes and the instrument is a 4-string tenor banjo, I recommend you purchase and install a set of Gotoh Planetary geared tuners. Wire strings are far less fussy with geared tuners and the shaft of Gotoh tuners are 3/8".

My expertise in craftsmanship points me squarely in the direction of Bob's response to replace the wrong tuners with proper fitting ones. Thank you all.
My guess is the banjo once had tuners of some desirability, as the guy I got it from told me the luthier he'd brought it to for set up bought them from him. You figure he'd have at least negotiated a replacement set in the deal.
