This is being sold near me as an Ibanez artist from the 1980s, but I can't find anything online that looks the same, apparently it has no serial number or model number anywhere, wondering if any of you could help?

It is the Ibanez Mountaineer model, mid-to-late 1970's vintage.

I saw that one and thought that isn't an Artist. Looking at the catalogues I found they did a Mountaineer tenor in late 70s and up to 1980 - the BT500.

Just bought it, I figure it is a Mountaineer BJ340 according to this: hoshinogakki.co.jp/pdf/ibanez/...dolin.pdf

£400 I think is an ok deal either way (fingers crossed)

BJ340 is the five string version. BT500 is the tenor version.

Have you got a link or pics of any bt500? According to the brochure bj250 was 5 string and bj240 was tenor. BJ350 matches the neck and head of the one I've bought, so I assumed bj340 would be the model number
