Thinking about the recent death of Kris Kristofferson.
Reminded me of something from PSYCH 101, back in my school days.
Delusions of reference" was a nutcase symptom where the person believes that people are specifically talking about the person, even if they're not.
So, how many of us, especially those who were bachelors for a longish time, hear "Sunday Morning, Coming Down", and, if not believing Kris was singing about us, at LEAST recognized we'd BEEN there, when he sang
"I fumbled through my closet full of clothes, and found my cleanest dirty shirt"??
That line was one that really hit me too,, , yep, been there, done that.
…or how about his line in “Darby’s Castle” that goes, “though they shared a common bed, there was precious little said” , which could resonate (delusionally refer) with some of us that went through broken relationships.

Re. "I fumbled through my closet full of clothes, and found my cleanest dirty shirt."
It pre-dates SMCD, by a couple of years, but one of my friends who played hockey with the U of MB Bisons told about their "cleanest dirty shirts" incident. Back then they played double-headers (?) .... Fri. nite and Sat. afternoon. Came time to dress for the afternoon game and the team had to sort thru the laundry bag of T-shirts / jockstraps ... 'cept the equipment manager had forgotten/neglected to wash 'em after the previous game.
