Has anyone laid fingers on one of these yet, specifically the cherry version? They sound good on youtube videos, but that's not necessarily reflective of real life sound. I wouldn't say that I live in a banjo desert, but no one anywhere near me seems to have one, either maple or cherry, to test drive.
For what it's worth, I'm a two finger picker with two 11" openback wooden banjos - no metal tone rings in either. The Vega Vintage Star is a 12" openback with a Dobson tone ring. I'm intrigued by the sound.
