I would like to learn to play some jazz and ragtime standards, but I only know a few basic things about the tenor banjo.I live in Europe and can spare 200-400 euros for shopping, so I would like to hear your opinion on which instrument would be the best choice for that price. Thanks you in advance for the advice.

If you are looking for a good new banjo. For that money I would say nothing. Second hand, it all depends on what’s available. Luck is a fortune!

1920's - 30's Vega Style N Little Wonder, if you can find one in the EU. These are old banjos and may require a little work, but they are far better than new banjos at the same price.  The previous poster reminded me that some of the English banjos from the same period are of good quality.

If not, look for recent issue used Recording King and Gold Tone banjos.
