Hello.
My friend (in FInland) is very sick and can't play anymore. His wife asked me to help selling some instruments
here in Finland and I found information on two of them ( A 2018 Recording King Madison RK R-25 banjo and a Japanese Martin guitar copy from the early 70s).
The one I do not recognize is this 4 string banjo with no names on.
It has natural skin and cheap looking tuners and a fancy decoration around the tuners.
I have googled with these detailed pictures but can't find another banjo even close to this one.
If you know this model please let me know.
Thanks
Seppo

Thanks,
she said that the banjo was very cheap when they got it and I'm quite sure that the decoration is painted.
The banjo is far away in another city and I asked her to take a more photos of the peghead and of the back of the pot.
Ok. More pictures arrived. The decoration is inlaid.
No text inside the rim but the dowel stic mechanism and metal parts seem to make this banjo older than I thought.
Let me hear your opinions after cheking out these new pictures?
Thanks for adding the extra photos Seppo. Judging from the way the dowel stick is anchored to the rim, I suspect that the neck has been added to an original pot. Factory made banjos with dowel sticks generally anchor through the hole in the rim directly into the stick. I suspect that someone made this neck and fitted it to the pot. It is extremely well made as the inlay work shows. The 'pie cut' resonator is relatively common to European instruments. I first thought it might be German (Eastern or Western) but the neck has no 'zero fret' (a fretwire that sits directly next to the nut on the fretboard). Given the construct of the pot, I doubt the Germain origin of it. Apart from that I have no clues.

Good job Banjonz
I guess that is all that we get to know about this banjo so far. My friend's wife wants to sell it to cover the family's healthcare costs.
Do you have an opinion of an honest price tag for this in U.S. market? I'll be able to convert it to Scandinavian standards by that.

I/\'m sorry Seppo, I don't know what instruments go for where you are. Perhaps someone here on the BHO might offer better advice.

I understand. She is now asking 150 euros in Finland. That is, while we chat here, $165,29 in U.S.
