I get an invalid file type when I try to upload a picture from my attachments I am trying to load a picture of a broken banjo pot to my post but not having any luck

That's odd. If the picture is on your home page and on your attachments, it should be easy to load it on a thread. Hopefully someone will come up with a good reason why this might be happening.
Gary, I copied one of your photos to my hard drive and then added it to my photo library here on the Hangout. It posted OK below. The file type must be OK. The photos are on your home page. Review the steps you have taken.
Note: I was looking for a Save or OK button to attach the photo to my message. I wasn't sure the Upload Photos was the correct choice, but it was the only choice. (That is the same command to upload photos to your home page, and that may have confused me.)

Fwiw, when I upload photos, after choosing the file(s), I have to go back up to the "upload photo" prompt rather than continue on down on the page; it seems a bit counter-intuitive, but once you know ...... .
test. All I have to do is click on the photo in my attachments and it loads it below the rest of the photos. I click on it again and hit preview to be sure it is where I want it and then click post changes. Works for me.
