I had one.
It was in pieces, with the specialized tuners and fingerboard just plain GONE.
Restored it, which included fabricating a peghead from MAPLE and spray painting it silver.
Traded it to a local banjo player, who gave it to his adult son.
Son says it was the BEST banjo he'd ever used, for busking on the corner.
And the son had played some several others, over the years.
And for "rare".....
I'm dang near 80, and have seen TWO in my lifetime.

I once played one of these, it belonged to Luke Kelly of the folk group The Dubliners. He watched me with amusement trying to play guitar chords on it (I was quite new to banjos) it too only had four strings on it having broken one during the preceding gig ! Heavy and cold to the touch is how I remember it, it is a sought after banjo in the UK, good luck with it.
