just seen a B&D silver bell tenor with the Oettinger tailpiece missing. I wondered if this was a standard fit on these and if so what are the chances of buying one either original or reproduction? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, many of them came with Oettinger tailpieces. Originals pop up for sale occasionally, but it will be expensive. There is a reproduction made, below is a link, I have no affiliation with the seller.

Hi Folks, this is my first post here. I play instruments in singalongs with my patients to lift their spirits. Getting my Grandpa's Bacon Professional ready to bring in too! Folks love singing songs from their youth, and my memory care patients remember every lyric of their favorite songs from their youth, and that can open a floodgate of wonderful memories for them! Music heals!

Just want to say thanks to you for all the hard work you have all put in over the years on how to identify an authentic Oettinger. I've researched a bunch of great discussions on this topic here, so I thought I would join today and participate. I will share some photos of Grandpa's banjo once it's set up. He taught me to play on his lap with this banjo, so it's kind of magical, you know?

I want to pay his love forward, and the love of my Grandma who played organ while we all jammed and sang, or as I like to say with my patients ~ PLAY it forward.

The Oettinger topics here just saved me from buying a later reproduction at a genuine Oettinger high price. The photos of Oettingers are great, but your shared knowledge and banjo wisdom are science and fun at the same time. Well done you!

Also learned here about Lyndon Smith's beyond excellent ingenuity and craftsmanship in his 21st century Oettingers. I'm saving up for my first purchase from Lyndon. My Grandpa's Bacon Professional needs a tailpiece, and because of each of you, and Mr. Smith, I can set up Grandpa's banjo well.

Thank you new Banjo Hangout friends. Nurse Paul
