This is a great tune for anyone wanting to get a grip on Ralph Stanleys way of doing things. The chord progression is straight and is used in dozens if not hundreds of bluegrass tunes.
You really have to pay attention to Ralphs right hand here ,as he gets a bit quirky in some spots ,most noticeably the 2nd measure of line 2. He takes the traditional FMB roll ,IMTMTIMT ,and goes IMTIMTIM. Look for it in other spots .
In the 2nd measure of line 1, measure 2 of line 3, and measure 3 of line 4 he does a straight forward roll version of the well know G lick, and he does likes to do that when he plays a real fast tune.
Here are a few different recordings of them doin this on youtube, but this one is my fav ,which i am including in the link.

What a great song. What great singing and arrangement AND Ralph's banjo rips it right.
Gary, thanks for the post.

This must be a very popular song. A ton of videos of different artists doing it . But of course we all know the Stanley Brothers do it best LOL. Carter is at the top of his game vocally and Ralphs tenor is right there with him. And Ralph's break is like a hummingbird's wings.
